New Places in the Library

The library has established some new nooks around the space, namely the Reading Pit which is used by staff and part of the class to explore the wonders of our brain; the Reading Hub which is used to welcome the children and teachers upon their arrival to the library; the Storytime Corner which is used by part of the class to enjoy the richness of the literature within the library; and the new display stage which has a slightly different feature on show at a semi-regular basis. Some of the artwork from the live performance of The Wrong Book is on display at present as is the value of the month which presently is: Honesty and Trustworthiness.  The children have responded well to all the different sections of the library and seem to be using them carefully under the supervision of the  class teachers and library staff together. Great work everyone!!Our Reading Hub

The Scholastic Book club

This term the library organised for this book club to take place and thanks to the organiser, Ms. Rawia every child was able to buy lots of fun resources and games from Scholastic. There is always a huge variety to pick from; and many orders are taken from the children at our school. Thanks to the well-organised approach by Ms. Rawia this activity which is extremely time-consuming was able to be held and run very smoothly as usual. We would also like to thank Ms. Raheema for her invaluable assistance to Ms. Rawia in the organisation of the Book club; and both she and Ms. Nancy were instrumental in disseminating the resources once they’d been sorted into classes. This takes quite a considerable amount of effort and time to achieve so well done to those involved in the Scholastic Book Club.

The Library as the Hub of the school

The primary library is the pivotal hub of the school and by way of illustration, here are some of the many facetted ways in which the library is used: for teachers’ professional development; for curriculum days; for On-demand testing; for catch up Naplan testing; for conferencing; for small group staff discussions; for a variety of  meetings and for the general library visits from students and staff; staff can also use the facilities provided in the Teacher Reference room to complete some work in peace and quiet. The library is appreciated very much and is well used by the school community which is very pleasing and satisfying for the library staff in general. Thanks to all who frequent this great space we have at our school; and make the most of the library as a resource in itself.

National Simultaneous Storytime

The library hosted this special event in Week 6, on Wednesday 22nd May; and this year Ms. Iman organised for the children of Grade 2B to perform the chosen book which was The Wrong Book written by Nick Bland. The library would like to acknowledge and congratulate Ms. Iman, Ms. Lianne, Ms. Nicole and the children of Grade 2B for running a spectacular performance in our great new hall for all the other children to enjoy and be entertained. The props were magnificent and creative as was the children’s imagination as they performed for us their version of the story which they maintained true to form. It was a really fun and memorable experience and we wish to thank all those who participated and gave their all. Well done!!
